Trout Lake-Addington Highlands

ABOUT TROUT LAKE

One of Ontario’s best kept secrets, Trout Lake in Addington Highlands, formerly called “Len Lake” , is mostly all Crown Land with only eight privately owned cottage properties on its waterfront. Three of these properties are the Lake’s largest 3 islands, one is located next to the public Boat Launch, and the remaining four, including the subject property, are located on the west shore of the Lake.

Protected by Canadian Shield rock, the Lake is crystal clear, clean and healthy, offering excellent sandy-bottom swimming beyond the rock shoreline in front of the property. The property now owns its shoreline road allowance and has southern exposure to the Lake.

Some parts of the Lake are quite deep, while other parts have natural rock sholes, offering excellent habitat for a variety of fish species. Motorized boats are permitted on the Lake.

Access to the property is either by water, from the Boat Launch where a leisurely canoe ride will take about 10 minutes; or by a forced road over Crown Land into the 4 cottage properties on the north shore. This rugged route - in some parts over rock and water -twists through the forest for approximately 3.5 kiilometres and is maintained by the property owners on an informal co-operative arrangement. A 4-wheel drive “off-road” vehicle is recommended for the adventure.

Trout Lake is surrounded by an extensive network of ATV/Snowmobile Trails, maintained and mapped by local associations, some of which are umbrellaed by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs. Signs are posted along Trout Lake Road for trail routes to Towns and amenities including Denbeigh, Griffith, Eganville, Best Western Inn at Pembroke, Cloyne, Kaladar, Weslemkoon Lake, McArthurs Mills and Bancroft.

ABOUT THE COTTAGE

The circa 1970 cabin with 2-tired deck facing the lake, won’t apologize for its lack of cosmetic fancy, but stands strong and free with skirted block foundation and metal roof, electrically wired for generator powered lighting and heating. Following the lead of the neighbouring cottages, a roof-top solar power system is a recommended addition, as well as a dock!
